Based on a very efficient linearly scaling algorithm Fabian was able to\u00a0calculate the electron transport in defective CNTs of realistic size, i.e. up to a length of microns. <!--more-->The approach is very general and allows us to treat\u00a0arbitrary arrangements of defect or functionalization sites along a CNT. Furthermore, we can derive simple analytical relations to estimate the\u00a0conductivity of defective CNTs.
